Hold on to the person who hurt you and love them
Jesus’ teaching, “Return evil for evil to no one,” was difficult for the hateful Jews; they murmured when they heard this. But Jesus declared more strongly:
Love your friend and hate your enemy! You have heard that it was said. But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; If you do this, you will be children of your Father in heaven.
It was such a reference that their legal teachers abused. They think of themselves as better than other people. They believe that God gave them a special place because they were born into Israel; But Jesus showed them that the spirit of forgiveness and love they showed even to tax collectors and sinners should be manifest.
He introduced them to the Ruler of heaven and earth by a new name, “Our Father.” He tried to tell them how open God’s heart was waiting for them. She taught them that God cares for each lost soul. “As a father shows mercy to his sons, Jehovah has shown mercy to those fearing him. No religion has ever told the world that God thinks that way. Only the Bible testifies. Some religions teach him as a God of fear, not love, because he is above all creation; they teach not as a father pouring out his love upon his children, but as if He requires sacrifice from them. Even the nation of Israel, because of their blindness, could not understand this teaching of the prophets that revealed God’s sovereign love, so it was seen as a new gift to the world.

Love your enemies Matt 5/44 continued.
The Jews think that God only loves those who work for Him, that in their view, those who fulfill their teachings are loved by God, and that all outside of them are under God’s curse and wrath. But Jesus said it’s not like that, the whole world, bad or good, is all under the sun of God’s love. We can learn this love even from nature; God makes His sun rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the just and the unjust.
It is not by inherited power that the earth revolves around the sun every year. It is the hand of God that keeps all these planets moving in their alignment. It is in his direction that summer and winter, sowing and harvesting, night and day alternate regularly. By His word the plants grow, the leaves sprout, and the apples blossom. All the good things we have, sunlight, rain, food, life, are all gifts of love.
While we were unloved and unlovable, While we were hated and hated, our God from heaven showed us mercy.
Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; Titus 3/3,5 His love we have received makes us love not only those who please us, but also those who are hated and wrong.
God’s children are those who share His identity. It is not rank on earth, birth, fame, or religious standing that makes us members of the heavenly family; it is our love for all mankind. Only the Spirit of God can give love to the hated. Showing kindness to the ungrateful and the wicked, doing good without expecting anything in return, is a heavenly quality and is manifested in their excellence in making them truly children of God.
